William St Studios for new Community Radio
7th July 2017
TULLAMORE Community Radio has secured the use of the former radio studios in The Mall, William Street as its base for broadcasting.
Station Manager Tommy McCabe told the Tribune that the Mall "has a rich radio history going back to 1989 and we are happy to continue with this legacy with Tullamore Community Radio."
He added: "All going well we hope to be on air in the winter. The new studio location is perfect and the original studio interior is still intact. The studio also has the added advantage of having its own wheel chair access lift in place."
According to Mr McCabe, station preparations are at an advanced stage and all personnel needed for the project are now in place.
He added: "We're so grateful to have such great people involved and on behalf of our committee, I want to give a huge thank you to the people of Tullamore who have been 100 per cent behind us from day one."
He said committee members are keen to thank the local business people in town too for their support and encouragement.
Mr McCabe promised Tullamore Community Radio will open the airwaves to ordinary people and be all inclusive.
Community radio committee members will conduct an audience research survey in the coming two weeks at various locations around the town centre.
